Yes it might seem hard to believe but it really is that time of year again when you have to start planning for Christmas and for all the guests who might be coming to stay with you during the festive period.
When it comes to buying food and gifts we are all reasonably well organised. But there are some things we habitually forget every single year and one of those could well be cleaning products. Not just any cleaning products though – we’re referring to ones that are designed to help us look after our fabric sofas.
Let’s face it, no matter how careful you are or how much you could try and prevent spillages from happening, this is the festive season. Something will always happen to upset your plans and the odd spillage could present you with a problem if it happens to go all over your nice new sofa.
So before everyone turns up make sure you know how your sofa should be treated if such a spillage should occur. Ideally you will have the care instructions for your sofa so you can see how it should be treated. There might be one or two things you are recommended to use if someone spills something on it, so make a list of them and check your cupboards. If you cannot find what you want, make sure you go out and buy it before everything shuts down on Christmas Eve.
Remember too that prompt treatment will always be better than not realising a stain is there or not mopping it up quickly enough. Make sure you have plenty of kitchen towels and fresh cleaning cloths too if you can. You will always need them for something!
It is always a good idea to keep the kids under control too. Even if they sit in the lounge and eat food while watching television, make sure they have a lap tray or they sit on the floor until they are finished. Fabric sofas and children with chocolatey fingers don’t tend to mingle well together in any event!
Sometimes you may not be able to prevent spillages from happening. But you might be able to prevent them from staining or getting any worse. If this is the case you should take the time to tackle them immediately, so your fabric sofa sees in 2011 looking just as good as it did in 2010.
